WHAT WE DO
Planet Protector creates sustainable products that give waste materials a new life. Born from the need to replace polystyrene and reduce landfill, we turn natural and recycled fibres into innovative solutions for packaging, building and beyond. Our mission is to prove that circular manufacturing is not only possible, but scalable and to help industries shift toward a future where waste becomes a resource and better materials become the standard.
Creating solutions that give waste a new life and our planet a better future
OUR STORY
Planet Protector Group was founded in 2016 by Joanne Howarth on a simple belief. Waste is a design flaw. What began as a bold alternative to polystyrene has evolved into a circular manufacturing platform transforming undervalued fibre waste into high-performance, scalable materials. By proving that natural and recycled fibres can outperform fossil-fuel derived alternatives, we demonstrated that sustainability and commercial performance are not opposing forces. They are the same strategy.
From eliminating millions of EPS boxes to establishing Australia’s most advanced fibre-processing facility, our growth has been driven by a single principle, design for impact, manufacture for scale and close the loop. Today, we operate at the intersection of circular design, sovereign manufacturing and material innovation, helping industries transition from linear supply chains to regenerative systems. We are not simply replacing materials, we are rebuilding how they are made.

OUR GROWTH

Impact
Circular by design with real-world impact
Environmental benefits
Lower embodied impact by replacing fossil-fuel-based materials with recovered fibres, helping reduce landfill and support more sustainable construction and logistics.
Landfill and resource impact
Large volumes of wool, textiles and fibres diverted from waste streams and remanufactured into durable, high-performance products designed for circular use.
Clean energy manufacturing
Manufactured locally using clean energy, supporting low-impact production and a more resilient Australian supply chain.
Local supply chains and circular manufacturing
Designed, processed and manufactured in Australia, keeping materials in use, strengthening local industry and enabling true closed-loop manufacturing.
